Four charged in vandalism of Waterloo school

February 14, 2006 By admin

Four children, ranging in age from four to 15, are accused of vandalizing a Waterloo school. Police estimate the damage at McKinstry Elementary School to be around 10-thousand dollars. Investigators believe the group entered the school through an unlatched window Saturday afternoon.

The break-in set off an alarm — but before the youths were found — they allegedly poured paint on computers and into file cabinets; overturned tables and bookshelves, and destroyed home-made valentines. Police arrested an 11-year-old and a 15-year-old on charges of third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. Authorities say the other two — a seven-year-old and a four-year-old — weren’t charged but were released to their parents.
