Indiana Senator talks with Democrat lawmakers

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh, a potential democratic presidential candidate, met with democrat Iowa lawmakers Monday. Bayh, the former governor of Indiana, talked with reporters after the statehouse meeting with legislators. Bayh says this “was a walk down memory lane for me. I loved being governor and I always work well and closely with my state legislators.”

Bayh says if the country is going to head in the right direction with a strong democratic party, it’s going to start at the grassroots with the legislators of Indiana and Iowa. Bayh says there are some things that need to change on the national level. Bayh says, “There needs to be a sense of urgency when it comes to creating jobs, to getting our finances in order, to providing for our nation’s security, to making us more independent from foreign energy.”

Bayh says he’ll help Iowa democrats in their state campaigns. Bayh says he told democrats he’d be happy to attend their fundraisers and campaign with them. He says he wants them to tell him how he can be helpful.Bayh, who has not officially announced he’s a presidential candidate, spent three days in Iowa.
