Storm Lake teen charged with killing brother, stabbing mom and dad

February 20, 2006 By admin

A Storm Lake teen is accused of fatally stabbing his brother and wounding his mother and father. Police Chief Mark Prosser says 18-year-old Jose Eduardo Tovar is charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. Officers were called to a disturbance at 10 o’clock Sunday night. The residents told police a man carrying a knife had come to their house wanting to use a telephone. Officers located Tovar with the alleged murder weapon and took him into custody.

Another report came in from just across the alley from the initial call. Authorities found three victims of multiple stab wounds in the home. Twenty-one-year old Miguel Tovar was dead and 45-year old Jose Arturo Tovar and 52-year-old Maria Tovar were both suffering from serious injuries.

They were transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. Their conditions are not available. Tovar is being held without bond. Police say they don’t know the motive for the stabbings at this time.
