A candy company is trimming its staff in Illinois while adding to the roster in southern Iowa. Officials at Farley’s and Sathers Candy Company of Minnesota have announced plans to consolidate its Des Plaines, Illinois, Manufacturing operations into the local Creston manufacturing facility. Its anticpated the last day of production at the Des Plaines facility will be at the end of August.

President of Farley’s and Sathers, Dennis Nemeth, says the Des Plaines facility cannot be expanded and does not have the capacity to produce the company’s requirements. The Creston facility is larger and will have the capacity and flexibility to meet the manufacturing needs into the future.

Nemeth also says severance packages will be offered and the company will work with the state of Illinois regarding the outplacement services for the Des Plaines employees. One hundred employees at the Des Plaines facility will be affected with some being offered the opportunity to transfer to Creston.
