Convicted child killer to be sentenced today

A convicted child killer is facing a mandatory life term in prison for the slaying of a Cedar Rapids girl last year. Thirty-eight-year-old Roger Bentley will be sentenced at 1 p-m today at the Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa City. Bentley was convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping of ten-year-old Jetseta Gage on January 31st.

The jury reached its verdict after two hours of deliberation at the Scott County Courthouse in Davenport. Gage was murdered after being sexually assaulted in Johnson County. Bentley is being held at the Johnson County Jail prior to sentencing.
