The Concord Coalition says trillions of dollars in national debt are beginning to add up, and will have an impact on everyone’s life at some point. Corey Davison, the group’s Director of Government Affairs, is touring Midwestern stops to say taxes and spending are getting further out of balance.

Even though we’re spending two-point-four-trillion dollars this year, he says the U.S. taxpayers are being asked for two-trillion dollars in payment and the rest, some 400-Billion, will come from countries like China. Davison says that’s not a very good business or economic model. Davison says the group’s focus on responsible fiscal policy is non-partisan. He adds that people should be concerned about who the United States owes money.

Of the nation’s eight-point-two-trillion dollars in debt, he says China owns 200-Billion dollars of it, and OPEC owns 65-Billion dollars of it. Davison says it should be a concern to Americans that we’re “undermining our sovereignty if not certainly our economic security in the years ahead.” Davison says the uproar over the management of U-S ports by Dubai shows Congress will change policy if they hear enough from the public.

Davison spoke at Morningside College in Sioux City and Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. The Concord Coalition describes itself as a nationwide non-partisan grassroots organization advocating fiscal responsibility.
