Red Oak teen dies in accident

March 20, 2006 By admin

A Red Oak teenager was killed and a passenger in her vehicle injured, during a fiery weekend crash in Montgomery County. The Iowa State Patrol reports 16-year old Danette Marie Harmon died, after the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer she was driving went out of control as she was passing another vehicle while traveling westbound on Highway 34, just before 10 p.m.

Saturday. Troopers say Harmon was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled nearly three-times before coming to rest on the highway and bursting into flames. Authorities say the teen was not wearing her seatbelt. The passenger, 16-year old Jessica Ann Payne, also of Red Oak, was belted-in, and was able to walk away from the wreck. She was taken by ambulance to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
