Maquoketa tavern fire called arson

March 23, 2006 By admin

A fire that destroyed a Maquoketa tavern Wednesday has been ruled an arson. Firefighters were called out shortly after four A.M. Wednesday to the Depot Bar and Grill in Maquoketa. They found the building engulfed in flames.

Fire crews fought the fire for several hours, but the business owned by Eric Moore was a total loss. The Iowa State Fire Marshal was called in and determined the fire was deliberately set. Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the Maquoketa Police Department.
