Davenport West students face arson charges after prank

March 24, 2006 By admin

Two students at Davenport West High School face first-degree arson charges after a dangerous prank. Davenport police say the two students poured some type of flammable liquid into an empty plastic bottle, then squeezed the bottle and lit the vapor as it came out the top of the container.

Police say the vapor ignited into a fireball that extended three to five feet into a group of students. Police say all of the students escaped injury, except for one of the students who is charged. He had the hair on his arm singed. Police charged 17-year-old Cru Mitchel Proehl and 18-year-old Anthony Smith with first degree arson. Both are being held in the Scott County jail on a 32-thousand-500 dollar bond.
