Northwestern standout honored by Iowa Senate

March 29, 2006 By admin

The Iowa Senate passed a resolution Tuesday honoring Northwestern College basketball standout Deb Remerde. The Rock Valley native set an all-time record this past season by making 133 consecutive free throws.

Sioux County Republican Senator Dave Mulder says it’s the best record in the United States for anyone at any level. Remerde was named the NAIA national player of the year after she averaged 32-points per game and led Northwestern to the NAIA Final Four. Mulder says she’s an all-american in basketball and academically.
