New casino opens in Worth County

April 6, 2006 By admin

Iowa’s newest casino opens this morning (Thursday). The Diamond Jo Casino is in north-central Iowa’s Worth County, four miles from the Minnesota border. Casino spokeswoman Carrie Tedore says all is ready for the doors to open on the 60-thousand square foot facility at 8 A.M. Tedore says the chef has the menu complete for the Farmer’s Feast Cafe, while the casino will be fully operational with over 500 slot machines and table games.

While the casino opens today, she says the “grand opening” won’t be for about two weeks yet. The casino’s premiere week begins April 19th. By then, Tedore says the Starbucks, Burger King and Arcade should be complete, finishing the interior construction, in addition to the exterior painting, weather permitting. She says the casino will have plenty of slot machines and table games.

The casino is located next to the Top of Iowa Welcome Center just off of Interstate-35, near the town of Northwood. It’ll be open 8 A.M. to 3 A.M. on Monday through Thursday and will run round-the-clock on weekends. For more information, surf to “www.diamondjo.com”.
