Newton City Administrator resigns

April 11, 2006 By admin

Newton’s city administrator has resigned amid a published report that said he’d be fired — but no one is saying much about why he’s leaving. Newton Mayor Chaz Allen will only confirm that the administrator has resigned. Allen says City Administrator Dave Schornack submitted his resignation and the city council accepted it.

Allen says the council is starting the process of hiring a new administrator. Allen says Chief of Police Tom Wardlow has been named acting city administrator and the council will meet Wednesday to start the process of selecting a new city administrator. Allen says they’d like to have a new city administrator hired by September or October.
