Victim in Creston cave-in identified

April 12, 2006 By admin

Authorities in southwest Iowa have identified the victim of a cave-in at a construction site Tuesday morning. Two men were trapped under approximately three feet of dirt in the northern part of Creston after the cave-in.

Officials say Daniel Meggison of Creston and an employee, Travis Klos of Afton, were trapped. A third employee made the emergency call. Meggison and Klos were digging the ditch to install new sewer pipe on the site that was being prepared as a home building lot at the time of the incident.

Klos was taken from the site and life-flighted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Meggison was declared dead at the scene and his body was removed from the scene a little after two P.M. Tuesday.
