It won’t be official until June but fans and players alike are enjoying the new look of Alliant Energy Field in Clinton. The home of the Clinton LumberKings underwent three-point-eight million dollars in renovations during the off season. The stadium was originally constructed in 1937 and had fallen behind with the surge of new stadiums in the minor leagues.

LumberKings general manager Ted Tornow says they took care of the requirements of major leagues baseball. The improvements include a new clubhouse, an indoor batting tunnel and a new playing surface. Tornow says all the upgrades have been met with approval by the parent Texas Rangers. He says the parent club was impress that the LumbKings asked for their advice and they had input in it.

The new box seats replace the old ones that were installed in 1948 and all the improvements should mean more fans. There have only been a handful of home games but so far attendance is running well ahead of past years. The finishing touches on the renovation project continue and Tornow says they should be completed by the first of June.

Tornow says they plan a rededication on June 17th and have invited officials from the Rangers and the city. The LumberKings host Lansing tonight.
