Drake hopes to sell out Saturday again for Relays

April 18, 2006 By admin

Drake officials are hoping for a 41st consecutive Saturday sellout at the Drake Relays next week. They will have fewer tickes for sale as the 15-million dollar renovation has dropped capacity at Drake Stadium from 18 thousand to around 14 thousand.

Drake ticket manager Alex Weikel says they still have tickets available and should be able to meet everyone’s needs if they order this week. She says ticketholders can sit and watch the action or walk around in the updated facility to watch some of the field events.

New stadium lights will allow evening events to be held for the first time since 1967. As a result, officials have added another session Friday that will include all the high school relay prelims and some family events.

Weikel says tickets for Saturday at 30 dollars, the day session Friday is 25-dollars for adults and 13 for youth 14 and under, then Friday night tickets are 20 dollars for adults and 10 for youth.

Weikel says tickets can be ordered in person, over the phone or on-line. They will mail tickets through Wednesday. The Drake Relays are April 27th through the 29th.
