Fire destroys business in Hazelton

April 21, 2006 By admin

Investigators say they may never find the cause of a fire Wednesday that destroyed a downtown business in Hazelton. Firefighters were called out about 11 A.M. to Father and Son Custom Woodworking, a business owned by Bob Juchem. Juchem was cleaning up inside when someone ran in and told him his business was on fire.

Fire crews from Hazelton, Oelwein, Fairbank, Aurora, Stanley and Independence responded, with some firefighters on the scene for nearly seven hours. The building had to be knocked down to extinguish the fire — with officials say could make it difficult to determine the exact cause of the fire. One firefighter had to be treated for minor injuries.
