Cedar Rapids police investigate double murder

April 24, 2006 By admin

Cedar Rapids police are investigating a double-homicide near Kirkwood Community College on the city’s southwest side. Police were called to an apartment last (Sunday) night where two women were found dead. Police have a suspect is in custody, but the name of that suspect — and the names of the victims — are being withheld. Other residents of the apartment complex, like Nick Vance, say they’re very concerned.

Vance says the apartment complex is the “quiet” one as there are no parties and nothing ever happens so they’re all “freaked out” about the excitement. Will Welsh is a Kirkwood student and a resident of the complex. He says everyone in the complex is close and pretty scared but “there’s nothing you can really do.” Kirkwood College says it will offer free counseling services for students and staff on Monday.
