Governor Tom Vilsack and officials of the Iowa Department of Economic Development will meet later this week with Whirlpool execs to show them why they should keep jobs in Iowa once they finish their merger with Newton-based Maytag.

Vilsack will meet with Whirlpool and representatives from Newton, Amana and North Liberty to tell of their unique attributes. While the state’s talking with Whirlpool executives about the overall business climate and assistance tools Iowa may offer, they’re also letting each community affected by the merger tell about its business and quality-of-lifeadvantages. They’ll meet Thursday afternoon at the development agency’s offices in the statehouse complex in Des Moines.
