Independence women charged with sex offender violations

Two Independence women have been charged with sex offender violations. Thirty-two-year-old Chantelle Gates has been charged with child endangerment after it was determined Gates has a registered sex offender living with her.

Police also arrested 27-year-old Tabitha Cummings of Independence for violating residency restrictions for sex offenders. According to the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, Cummings was convicted of sexual abuse in Dubuque County in 1996. The victim was a young boy.
