Iowa in the running for pudding plant

April 26, 2006 By admin

Waterloo officials are hoping the proof is in the pudding for a planned expansion project. Con-Agra Foods plans to invest 46 million dollars to expand one of its three existing pudding production plants in the Midwest.

The project is being considered for facilities in Waterloo, Indianapolis, and Menomonie, Wisconsin. Waterloo city officials are hoping an incentive package lands the project. They’re offering the company tax credits, sales tax refunds, job training, and direct financial aid — an incentive package worth around four-point-five (m) million dollars. Local leaders hope the state of Iowa chips in additional incentives to bolster the offer.

If the Waterloo plant is chosen, the expansion project would double the size of the nine-year-old pudding production facility. Con-Agra would also add 50 employees to the Cedar Valley’s 75-member workforce.
