Man now charged in fatal Audubon shooting

April 28, 2006 By admin

Western Iowa authorities have made an arrest in a fatal weekend shooting. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says Jorge Hansen — who also goes by the last name “Lopez” — has been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and “assault causing serious injury.”

Hansen allegedly pointed a gun at 23-year-old Francisco Berrocal of Audubon Sunday morning and pulled the trigger. Berrocal was shot in the head and killed. The death was first ruled accidental, but further investigation resulted in the arrest of Hansen. If convicted, Hansen could face up to five years in prison on each charge.
