Electrolux to temporarily layoff 500 in Webster City

May 3, 2006 By admin

Some 500 workers were put on temporary layoff status Tuesday afternoon at the Electrolux washer-drier factory in Webster City. Company officials say Electrolux needed to adjust production to align with current inventory and anticipated market demand. The effected employees are expected to return to work sometime later this month.

Officials say the layoffs are part of the normal business process at Electrolux. This is not related to the changes announced for the plant in 2007 and ’08. In February, it was announced some 700 jobs would be moved from Webster City to Mexico.
