Ethanol plant proposed for Winneshiek County

May 25, 2006 By admin

The board of supervisors in Winneshiek County is considering a proposal to build a 100-million-gallon plant near Jackson Junction. Leaders of the Homeland Energy Solutions project say that’s one of two locations they’re eyeing and the other might be just across the line in eastern Chickasaw County.

They’re asking the board of supervisors for a 20-year tax abatement, but say the ethanol plant would make forty to fifty good-paying jobs, for a total payroll around two-point-four-Million dollars. The Winneshiek County board may give its answer next week.
