GOP nominee for Secretary of State is Allison

June 7, 2006 By admin

Republican voters selected podiatrist Chuck Allison as their candidate for Secretary of State. “I think that our message has been clear for the last year that we need to protect the integrity of the election process and that’s why, I think, I won,” Allison says.

Bob Dopf, a recently-retired federal prosecutor, was the other candidate in the race — making his first run for office. “Having experienced working at the grassroots party level is an invigorating experience,” Dopf says. “I’m going to do what I can to help the Republican ticket and to help Chuck Allison secure the Secretary of State’s office.”

Allison will compete against Democrat Michael Mauro, the Polk County Auditor, in the general election to become Iowa’s next Secretary of State. The current office-holder, Chet Culver, is the Democratic nominee for governor.
