Oskaloosa couple drowns at Lake Red Rock — witnesses asked to come forward

Officials are asking for witnesses who know anything about the weekend deaths of a man and woman on Lake Red Rock to come forward. The bodies of 54-year-old Randall Padgett and his 52-year-old wife Ouida were found floating in Lake Red Rock on Saturday, near the marina and about 100 yards from the Oskaloosa couple’s boat. A lifejacket was also floating nearby. Other boaters spotted the bodies and provided aid until authorities arrived. The Padgetts were rushed to the Pella hospital where both were later pronounced dead — both from drowning. D-N-R officials say unless a witness steps forward who saw more, it may never be known what happened to the couple to prompt their deaths.
