A nurses’ strike in Dubuque is over but things aren’t exactly back to normal at the hospital. After three days of picketing Finley Hospital nurses and members of the Service Employees International Union local 199 are preparing to go back to work. There is one catch however, Finley Hospital Administrators hired the US Nursing Corp to fill in for five days.

So some nurses who tried to report for duty Sunday were sent home. Finley Administrators are unsure of the number of nurses who did strike because of scheduled vacation requests during the three day period. Local Union leaders feel the strike went well. Both sides are scheduled to meet again for negotiations on July 17th.
