Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal Waterloo nightclub shooting. Officials say 27-year-old Tonyeah Jackson was shot inside Club Crystyles) last night. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later.

Police are investigating the shooting and the circumstances surrounding it. Officials aren’t discussing details of their investigation, but a police department spokesman confirms there were several people inside the nightclub at the time of the shooting.

No arrests have been made, but police are interviewing the witnesses and they’re searching for the suspect. Officials are also searching for the handgun they believe was used in the shooting.

Club Crystyles was also the scene of a shooting in March 2003, when two men were wounded in the parking lot outside the nightclub. The suspect, Anthony Cole of Waterloo, was convicted of attempted murder, but the Iowa Supreme Court later threw out that conviction and ordered a new trial. Cole is awaiting re-trial.
