Burlington Police say a woman found dead at her home was murdered. Burlington Police Lieutenant Darren Grimshaw says the police were called to her home about three Monday afternoon. They haven’t determined who last saw the woman alive, or when, but say she was identified as 55-year-old Dianna Dawson, who lived there alone.

A friend stopped by to check on the woman and after she went into the house she went and got a neighbor to call police. Officers who responded found the body of Diana Dawson in her home and determined she’d died of gunshot wounds. It’s early in the investigation and police have gotten a lot of information they’re trying to match to leads they have, so they’re not saying much more right now.

Police were told the woman had recently moved into the house with her husband, who later died. So far there are no arrests and investigators say they haven’t pinpointed any “persons of interest” they want to call in to talk to.
