Johnson sizzles Wie not with it early at John Deere Classic

July 13, 2006 By admin

Zach Johnson cruised and Michelle Wie struggled during the opening round of the John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities. Johnson, an Iowa native, birdie his last five holes to turn in a 64 and gain a share of the lead.

Johnson shot a 28, the lowest nine of the year on the PGA tour, to tie for first with 2002 John Deere Classic champion J.P. Hayes and John Senden of Australia at seven under par. Michelle Wie has struggled, shooting five over par in the first round.
