Two charged with vandalism of Cedar Falls school

July 17, 2006 By admin

A northeast Iowa elementary school was badly damaged by vandals over the weekend. Two juveniles have been charged with causing ten-thousand dollars in damage to the new Lincoln School in Cedar Falls. Police were called to the school just after 8:00 Saturday night on a report of juveniles trespassing in the school. Upon arrival they found that the school had been entered through an unlocked door.

Water faucets inside the school were turned on allowing water to flow over counters and onto the floors, officers found that the top floor was flooded with water and that the water was flowing through the ceiling into the first floor.

No one was in the building when officers arrived, but two juveniles were arrested following an investigation. 11-year old Zachery Short of Cedar Falls, along with an unidentified 9-year old were apprehended and charged with First Degree Criminal Mischief and Trespassing.
