Traffic stop near Newton leads to drug bust

July 19, 2006 By admin

A traffic stop Tuesday on Highway 14 — just off Interstate 80 in the Newton area — has led to a drug bust. Cops say when they pulled 40-year-old Bret Allen Maple of Newton over, they found half a pound of “ice” — the smoke-able form of methamphetamine.

Officers got a warrant to search Maple’s Newton home, and found another 10 grams of “ice” plus scales, packaging supplies and drug paraphernalia. Maple’s been jailed on drug possession charges.
