Storm cleanup continues in Eastern Iowa

Clean-up is underway across northeast Iowa after severe weather barreled through on Wednesday night. In Monticello, a tree fell on two mobile homes, trapping one woman for a short time. Winds clocked at 65-miles-an-hour were reported in Olin.

Near Urbana in Benton County, a wind gust of 56-miles-an-hour was recorded. In Aurora, 2 inches of rain fell in less than an hour. Lightning caused damage to a house in Fayette. The bolt struck a telephone wire and melted some of the siding.

Power lines were down in numerous communities, cutting power to several thousand customers. There were no injuries reported from the storms. There was some reported damage in Oelwein from storms that swept through the area early this (Thursday) morning. At least one tree was uprooted, along with numerous branches blown down all over town at about 1:30 A.M.
