Five beaches posted for high bacteria levels

July 21, 2006 By admin

High bacteria warnings have been posted at five state park beaches. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the beach at Backbone State Park near Strawberry Point as well as Beeds Lake in Hampton, Lacy Keosauqua State Park, Nine Eagles State Park in Davis City and Union Grove State Park in Gladbrook had warnings posted.

The warnings recommend against swimming because of an elevated level of bacteria. The warnings will be in effect through July 27th until another round of testing is completed.
