Police are releasing few details about their investigation of a murder that happened in Cedar Rapids this past weekend.

Twenty-two-year-old Anthony Posley was killed with by a single gunshot just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. Cedar Rapids police lieutenant Ken Washburn says the shooting happened during some kind of disturbance in the neighborhood, but the policeman won’t reveal whether Posley was a bystander or participant in that disturbance. “This is an early part of the investigation,” Washburn says. “Sometimes these cases, you can solve ’em in half an hour, and sometimes they take a little bit longer.”

Witnesses say they heard as many as four or five shots in the neighborhood early Sunday morning, but police say Posley died of a single gunshot wound. Posley’s family and friends admit he had his share of run-ins with the plice over the years but they insist he was getting his life together. He was engaged to be married next year.
