Denison motel owner sought on drug charges

July 27, 2006 By admin

The owner of a motel in Denison faces a number of drug-related charges after two separate police raids found huge stashes of drugs on the property.

Denison police raided the Jo-Mart Motel last Saturday and found drugs but Denison Police Chief Rod Bradley says the owner wasn’t there. Officers seized meth, marijuana, cocaine, hashish as well as packaging materials and other drug paraphernalia. They also found over six-hundred dollars in cash and a number of guns.

A tipster told cops there were drugs in another part of the motel and another separate raid was conducted on Tuesday. “The officers seized an additional seven-and-a-half pounds of marijuana,” Bradley says. “At this time, a considerable number of felony charges have been filed against the owner of the motel — Marcus Anderson and we are currently attempting to locate him. We’re asking if anybody in the community knows where Mr. Anderson could be located that they contact us so he could be taken into custody.”

The police chief describes Anderson as a 36-year-old black man who was last seen at the motel just before officers conducted the raid last Saturday. They suspect he may be somewhere in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro. The raids happened after citizens in the area complained of drug activity in the motel.
