Iowa Telecom purchases Des Moines company

August 2, 2006 By admin

Iowa Telecom has bought another communications company, paying eight and-a-quarter-million dollars in cash for Des Moines-based Baker Communications. Dan Enness with Iowa Telecom says the new acquisition’s a good fit for the Newton-based

Ennes says Baker “lines up with our operations pretty well,” and supports the business of doing voice and “data solutions.” Baker, headquartered in Des Moines, serves companies in Iowa and Nebraska and has three offices with 45 employees.

Iowa Telecom, with 600 Iowa employees, serves more than 435 communities with phone and Internet service. No regulatory approval is required, so the deal can go through without delay and Baker’s now a part of the Iowa telecom team, Enness says. The companies say no jobs will be cut as they continue to do business as usual.
