U-N-I offers transfer tool on-line

August 2, 2006 By admin

The University of Northern Iowa is offering a unique on-line tool to help students thinking of transferring to the Cedar Falls school. The program called “Transfer Plan-It” allows community college students in Iowa to immediately see which of their credits will transfer to U-N-I.

Chad Wittrock is a senior programmer for the school and says they’ve been working on the transfer tool for some time. Wittrock says if you count all the discussion and planning, it has taken one year to get things going.

Wittrock says other schools have similar on-line systems, but not as comprehensive as U-N-I’s. Wittrock says the U-N-I program covers all 20 Iowa community colleges while he says other programs across the country only cover specific colleges.

Wittrock says the program is designed for counselors from high schools and community colleges and prospective students. He says the next step is to include course information for all four-year colleges and universities in Iowa.
