The Davenport City Council has reached a decision in the contentious debate over the city administrator’s pay. City manager Craig Malin is accused of giving himself pay raises without the approval of the council, and the aldermen voted six -to-four today (Friday) that his actions were a breach of his contract.

Voting with the majority was Alderman Shawn Hamerlinck. The councilman says the big question is where to go from here, as he says the city council’s working hard to do the best they can to “represent the taxpayer in this issue.”

Mayor Ed Winborn says he thinks the issue has been blown out of proportion. Winborn says things will go on and Malin will continue to be the city’s hard-working administrator. Malin has ninety days to pay about 6-thousand dollars back to the city.
