With inexperience at the wide receiver position the Iowa football team may rely more on an experienced group of tight ends. Oelwein native Ryan Majerus enters his senior season as the Hawk’s number three tight end behind Scott Chandler and Tony Moeaki but he may play a more prominent role.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says they have three experienced guys at tight end and it’s fair to say they will play a prominent role. Ferentz says leadership will be one of Majerus’ most important roles. Majerus has already graduated and is working on a graduate degree. Ferentz says Majerus is poised to have a great senior year.

Majerus is looking forward to his final season. He says they have a great group of tight ends and says it has been to work out with them and get better. Majerus says they are not only great tight ends, but his teammates are great people too.

Majerus says he has been fortunate to be part of the program during the past few years. He says it’s been a tremendous four years already with the team going to a January 1st bowl game each year.
Majerus has some personal goals for this season, to be a senior leader, and on game days to improve.
The Hawkeyes open the season September second at home against Montana.
