Three compete for Upper Iowa QB job

August 16, 2006 By admin

The job of starting quarterback is still up for grabs at Upper Iowa. Returning starter Kevin Lehman is one of three candidates for the job that includes a pair of transfers, Kevin Linnell and Andrew Jones.

Upper Iowa coach Mike Knoll says they’re too close to make a choice right now. He says he will make a decision on the starter after Thursday’s practice, two weeks before the season opener.

Knoll says whoever wins the job will be surrounded by an outstanding group of receivers. He says they have eight and maybe nine receivers he feels can line up and make catches.

The Peacocks open the season August 31st at Wayne State of Nebraska.
