Vet is top job pick among kids at the fair

August 16, 2006 By admin

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Kids attending the Iowa State Fair over the past several days were asked that question. The poll was conducted by College Savings Iowa, which found nine out of ten youngsters questioned said they hoped to stay in Iowa to attend college or community college.

The poll found the number-one career choice among kids at the State Fair in Des Moines this year — is veterinarian. It’s the first time animal doctor’s been on top of the annual list. At number-two: doctor or nurse. Pro athlete was the third most popular choice. Teacher has been tops for several years but this year fell to fourth place. Also making the list — clown, cowgirl and rock star.
