An unhealthy affection for felines may soon bring charges against a man and woman in northern Iowa. Mason City housing officials say they’re overwhelmed by a couple who had 123 cats in their small home. Officials removed the cats last week. They didn’t identify the couple, but say neighbors had complained about the smell. Kittens can start having kittens of their own within about six months. The cats were taken to an animal hospital and no charges have been filed against the couple. City official Pat Otto says the couple became “overwhelmed by circumstances that got out of control in a hurry.”
