There is a northeast Iowa connection in the ongoing JonBenet Ramsey murder case. The prosecutor in the Ramsey case, Mary Lacy, is a Manchester native. The 56-year-old Lacy graduated from Mount Mercy College in 1976 and was an honors graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law two years later.

Lacy initially worked in private practice, then as a trust officer before joining the Boulder, Colorado district attorney’s office in 1983. Lacy was elected district attorney six years ago, the then took over the controversial JonBenet Ramsey murder case, in which the six-year-old child was found murdered in her family’s Colorado home the day after Christmas in 1996.

No one had been arrested the case until this week when 41-year-old John Karr, a former teacher, was taken into custody in Bangkok.
