Upper Iowa names starter at QB

August 18, 2006 By admin

The Upper Iowa offense will have a new leader this season. Head coach Mike Knoll has named senior Andrew Jones as the Peacocks starting quarterback. The California native won the battle over returning starter Jay Lehman and junior college transfer Kevin Linnell.

Statistically Jones was the leader and Knoll says Jones was the most productive in running the offense. Knoll says Jones is the right fit to lead the offense. He says with their spread style, they have to have a mobile quarterback.

Knoll says while Jones is the starter all three quarterbacks may get playing time.
Upper Iowa opens the season August 31st at Wayne State of Nebraska.
