The Iowa Department of Public Safety has unveiled a new system that allows you to sign up to get information automatically sent to your e-mail.

Spokesman Jim Saunders says it’s part of the effort to make government more accessible. Saunders says you can go to the internet address: dpsemailnotify.iowa.gov, and sign up for a free e-mail service that will automatically notify them of things like amber alerts and burn bans.

Saunders says the system will quickly send out the information once you’ve been enrolled. He says the e-mail notification is tied into the website and automatically sends out an e-mail anytime the D-P-S website is updated. The e-mail provides a link directly to the information on the website.

Saunders says you can also narrow down the amount of information you want. Saunders says if you’re just interested in information from one region of the state, you can select that region and get only information from that region of the state. Saunders says the new system should help the department get information out more quickly.
