Coe looks for another football title

August 22, 2006 By admin

The Coe College football team is poised to make another run at the Iowa Conference title this season. The Kohawks finished 9-2 in 2005, won a share of the league title and advanced to the division three national playoffs. With 16 starters back this year they are the pre-season favorite to win another league crown.

Coe coach Eric Raeburn says the expectations translate to the off-season workouts where the players really worked hard. Most of the key players return for an offense that averaged better than 30 points per game a year ago.

Raeburn says the Iowa Conference has become a balanced and competitive league on and off the field. He says every guy they try to recruit, the other schools are after too and that makes for some good football games. Coe opens September second at Illinois Wesleyan.
