About 35 percent of the employees at the Eaton plant in Spencer will be losing their jobs. The human resources manager at the plant says about 150 jobs will be shifted away from Spencer to an Eaton facility in Mexico.

Company managers met with workers today (Tuesday). Employees will receive notices in the next few days. The lay-offs will occur within the next year. As of today, four-hundred-22 workers are employed full-time at the Eaton plant in Spencer and another 102 are considered “temporary” employees.

Economic development officials in the area say other plants will be able to hire the laid off workers. Eaton makes electrical systems, hydraulics and other components for planes, trucks and cars. The company has 60-thousand employees worldwide.
