Golf tournament will raise funds to support National Guard

August 28, 2006 By admin

A golf tournament next month will raise money for the Iowa National Guard Family Programs. Kelly George is putting together the event for the Toad Valley golf course in the Des Moines suburb of Pleasant Hill. George says his own experience in the military led to the idea.

George say when he was in the Navy he noticed a lot of sacrifice from the person in the military and the family. George says it’s not easy for the person returning from a deployment and the family to adjust. George says the Iowa National Guard Family Programs deal with the problems of deployment and the return home.

George says the programs help the families cope with the fact that there’s someone in the family missing, and he says they help the family and the soldier cope with being back in a less structured environment. George says the Family Programs of the National Guard provide a valuable service.

George says they want to help people who have sacrificed not only their time but their families. George says proceeds from the tournament on September 9th will go to the program. George says it’s a small way in which anyone can help, and he says you don’t even have to golf, you can sponsor a hole. You can find out more information about the tournament on the web at: www.ToadValley.com.

George says you can also call the course at 515-967-9575. George says there will be case prizes for the tournament and the entry fee includes dinner. If you aren’t a golfer, George says you can still participate in the mini-golf tournament and bring your kids. A silent auction will also be held in conjunction with the tournament.
