Officials at the University of Iowa are set for Friday’s rededication of Kinnick Stadium. Built in 1929, the stadium has undergone two years of renovation at a cost of more than 86-million dollars.

Associate athletic director Jane Meyer said this week the project is “substantially complete” and on budget.

The updates include wider seats, new concourses and a new press box that includes luxury suites and club seating. Meyer says they met their three goals of maintaining the historical ambiance of the stadium, make sure that every fan benefits, and make the football team better.

Meyer says all the fans who attend Saturday’s game against Montana will notice the improvements. She says the east and west concourses are “absolutely gorgeous”, but she says they didn’t widen them, because that would have changed the stadium. Meyer says they cleaned up the concourses and brought in the brick and limestone and made the lines deeper.
