Man dies after motorcycle hits dog

September 5, 2006 By admin

A western Iowa man was killed over the weekend when his motorcycle struck a dog. Sheriff’s officials in Pottawattamie County say 53-year old Dennis Croghan, of Council Bluffs, died after his 1986 Kawasaki 600 struck a German Shephard puppy that ran out onto the road in front of him.

Croghan lost control of the cycle and, because he was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries during the crash. The puppy was also killed during the collision. The crash occurred northeast of the ‘Bluffs at around 8:30 Saturday morning. Officials have not identified the owner of the dog. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
